Radisson Group Signs Bahir Dar

Radisson Hotel Group has signed Radisson Hotel Bahir Dar, located in the north east of Addis Ababa as one of its branded hotels. This makes it the first branded hotel in the country. The hotel chain already has 3 other hotels in the country. The hotel is located on the shores of Lake Tana, Ethiopia’s largest lake which has 37 islands scattered across its surface. The lake is located 8 kms from Bole international airport.

Ethiopia, a top tourist attraction, is home to some of the world’s oldest monasteries and churches. The hotel will sit just 25 kilometers from Tis Abbai Falls (Blue Nile Falls), one of Ethiopia’s best-known tourist attractions.

Bahir Dar which is the 3rd largest city of Ethiopia serves as a well-known, memorable city to the north of the country. The city grew around a Jesuit settlement, founded in the sixteenth century and Emperor Haile Selassie’s palace is located near the city. The city is culturally, historically and geographically rich.

Elie Younes, chief development officer, Radisson Hotel Group, said: “Africa remains the most exciting continent for growth and evolution. According to WTTC, Ethiopia experienced the ‘highest tourism growth in the world’ in recent years, with over 45 per cent increase. Such growth justifies more hotel developments in the country, and we are pleased to introduce our fourth hotel in the market.”

The fully renovated, converted 125-room hotel will comprise of a variety of room types, from standard to king rooms and presidential suites. Guests will be spoilt for choice with variance and all-day dining options and well as three bars. Amenities such as gym, spa and pool are also available.
