Travelling to Dubai will now be easier as the country plans to introduce a 5 year visas for tourist visa applicants. The multiple entry visa will allow visitors to stay for up to 6 months at a time. Eligibility requirements for the visa remain the same as those in plane for all other types of tourist visa. Previously, the tourist visas were valid for only 30 to 90 days. But now, tourist of any nationality can have the benefit of five-year visa.
The decision was made by the UAE Cabinet on 6th January 2020. The meeting was chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The move comes in a bid to support the UAE’s tourism economy, and affirm the country’s position as a global tourist destination. The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship will implement the decision.
Ali Mohammad Bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship affirmed the decision was in conjunction with host Expo 2020 Dubai. The event is set to receive receives more than 21 million tourists. It is reported that there are over 200 nationalities residing in UAE.
Sheikh Mohammed made the announcement via his twitter account, “Today we change the system of issuing tourist visas in the country, to make the duration of the tourist visa for five-years, multiple uses, for all nationalities. We receive more than 21 million tourists annually and our aim is to establish the country as a major global tourist destination.”
